President’s Message, February 2012
It is with great honor, as the newly elected President of the CMSA Detroit Chapter, I write the first Presidents Letter of 2012.
Let me start by thanking the outgoing board members Teresa LaRosa, Member at Large, and Deborah Johnson, Past President; your service and dedication is very much appreciated and duly noted. And a most hearty welcome to our new board members, Kathleen Clawson and Janet Bavier. The knowledge and insight you bring to the Detroit Chapter as Members at Large will undoubtedly benefit our organization and membership.
To Jacqueline Wajer President 2010-2012: What can I say? I can only hope that I live up to the accomplishments and standards you brought as President to the CMSA Detroit Chapter. I am thankful you remain on the board as ‘Past President’; your counsel is most respected.
Now to business:
With the many changes in managed care at the national level, and the current legislative action regarding the No Fault Law and Workers Compensation Law at the state level, 2012 promises to be a challenging year for case managers. It is the purpose of the CMSA Detroit Chapter to lessen the burden of these challenges by providing a forum to educate and assist in unifying professionals actively engaged in case management. We will continue to accomplish this through our Dinner Conferences, Web Site, sponsorship and participation in industry and community events.
Our February Dinner Conference was a great success. The speaker, Donna Spears-Dunn, gave an excellent presentation on the Holistic approach to alternative medicine. Thank you to the members and vendors who attended; it was a great showing for an important subject. A special thanks to Belinda Cooke, Deb Hodder, and the CMSA Board of Directors for pulling it all together.
Respectfully,
Margaret Davis
